Recent research provides insight into how to delay the onset and slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children. The following guidance is recommended:
- 10-14 hours of outdoor activity per week
- An indoor viewing distance of at least 12 inches when doing homework, reading, or looking at electronic devices
- No more than 3 hours per day of near work in addition to school class time
In addition, Dr. Felker now offers multifocal soft contact lenses to aid in slowing the progression of myopia.
